31 Days to Success: Day 15 Getting a Work-At-Home Job

“i can type and do data entry. tell me if i can work.”

The errors above are not mine. This is a sample of email I freqently get. Let me ask you; do you think this would result in a job? Of course not. First of all, I don’t think this person can type; at least not without errors. Second, she doesn’t indicate any experience she has in typing or data entry.

If you want a work-at-home job, you must keep in mind:

1) Employers are looking for people with skills and experience. They are looking for anybody who’s willing to sign up. They are looking for people who can fill specific jobs.

2) You have to earn a job meaning you have to have better skills than the others who have applied.

3) You need a quality resume that outlines your skills and experiences as they relate to the job.

4) Follow the directions the employer gives. The biggest complaint telecommuting employers have regarding telecommuting job applicants is that they don’t apply according to the directions.
